1996, 80 minutes, Rated M

A unique Australian comedy/drama, Love And Other Catastrophes focuses on five friends making their way through university; their trials, tribulations and quest for love.

Firstly there's Mia (Frances O'Connor; Three Dollars), who's obsessed with her UM lecturer (Kym Gyngell; Kath & Kim) and is trying to prevent her girlfriend Danni (Radha Mitchell; Finding Neverland) from moving in.

Meanwhile Mia's room-mate Alice (Alice Garner: SeaChange) isn't prepared to settle for anyone less than her perfect Mr Right, who arrives in the shape of Ari (Matthew Dyktynski; Take Away), a Classics student by day and gigolo at night. And then there's the cautious, shy medical student Michael (Matt Day: Muriel's Wedding), harbouring a major crush on Alice. Events unfold in a 24-hour timeframe, culminating in a house-warming party at the girls new apartment where truths must be faced and problems solved.

Love And Other Catastrophes is an engaging, intelligent take on life in the 90's and the entanglements of young love.
