In a corrupt police force, the one bad apple is an honest cop. Meet James Quinlan.
Quinlan (Anthony Lapaglia) is a dedicated cop. He is also highly respected and has paid his dues. His personal life is crumbling around him. His wife is a drunk, and embarrassingly so. Quinlan is depressed about his private and professional life. The two are most definitely linked. You see, Quinlan is one of the few cops that isn't on the take.
But Quinlan knows the score. Within the ranks of the force were those who actually organised crime, it was safer to be in control than on the receiving end. In fact, his closest friend, det. Sgt. Frank Church was in it up to his neck.
It became too much for quintan. He decided to do something about it, whatever the cost. Quinlan decides that if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. He sets up an elaborate scheme to ensnare the guilty parties. He cannot confide in anyone, because he does not know how far up the chain of command the rot of corruption goes. He is alone. He has to sacrifice his reputation and his liberty, but there is no other way. Quinlan's life will never be the dame again. But it's a price he is willing to pay. He lies, cheats and bends the rules, because he's the last of the honest cops.
