1970, 93 minutes, Rated M
Barbra Streisand re-teamed with her FUNNY GIRL producer RAY STARK in 1970 for the big screen adaptation of the popular Broadway play THE OWL AND THE PUSSY CAT - a film that would give the actress her first non-singing role.
Though the lead roles were originally intended for Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, Streisand teamed with GEORGE SEGAL and created a winning chemistry that drove this off-beat comedy to hysterical heights. They played New Yorkers who have little else than the apartment building they both occupy in common...but who eventually discover that sometimes opposites do attract.
With a cracking screenplay written by Buck Henry (who worked again with Streisand with Peter Bogdanovich's WHAT'S UP DOC - 1972) and a dynamic comedy duo in top form, THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT is "a marathon of hilarious one-liners, outlandish situations and one-upping putdowns". - Los Angeles Herald-Examiner
