Jack Elgin (Academy Award winner Jeremy Irons), a senior editor with The Economist, surprises his family with a vacation to India. In a sudden and horrifying inferno, their plane is taken over by terrorists and his wife and both of his daughters are brutally murdered before his eyes.
Back in London, Jack learns that the men who killed his family are released with out charge. Moving between the worlds of high politics, affluent Richmond and the shadowy netherworld of gangsterism, the story spirals to a shocking climax. Jack must decide what kind of a man he is willing to be.
