Letter To BrezhnevIcon_movClass_M

1985, 95 minutes, Rated M

This raunchy comedy with a soft centre finds tarty Teresa and dreamer Elaine down on their luck in 1980s Livepool. Teresa's fed up with stuffing chickens and is desperate for a man. Elaine is on the dole, depressed and searching for true love.

Excitement comes in the unlikely shape of two Russian sailors the likely lasses pick up in a club. On the proceeds of a stolen wallet they whisk the men to a seedy hotel where Teresa gets her night of passion and Elaine losses her heart to Peter. That seems to be that as the men head to sea, but love blossoms across the Iron Curtain. In desperation Elaine writes a letter to Brezhnev and with an invitation to Russia in the bag, she leaves Liverpool and Teresa behind.
