Growing up in a tiny English mining village in the 70's would be hard for any kid, let alone the precocious only daughter of a newly immigrated Punjabi family. And when Meena meets Anita, her life is about to get even more complicated!
At 14, Anita is blonde, beautiful, aloof and sassy - everything that Meena wants to be. But Meena is only 12 and she's torn between being the person that she dreams of and being a 'good little Indian girl' to make her parents proud.
