The setting is the American South. Blanche DuBois is a pampered Southern Belle, forced to stay with her sister, Stella (Diane Lane - Judge Dredd) in a poverty-stricken apartment. Stella's husband, Stanley Kowalski, takes an instant dislike to her and is not afraid to show it. Ravaging her pride as well as hey body, Stanley mercilessly chips away at her world of delusion driving her deeper and deeper into madness and despair.
