THE TRUE STORY OF TWO YOUNG JOURNALISTS AND THEIR AWARD-WINNING EXPOSE OF LIFE ON THE MEAN STREETS OF CHICAGO
Our America is the incredible story of two young boys from Chicago's deprived southside, who take up a local radio challenge to make a documentary about their everyday lives. The controversial programme is riddled with horror stories of drug dealing, gang warfare, drive-by-killings and broken homes.
For some listeners, Lloyd Newman (Brandon Hammond, Mars Attacks) and LeAlan Jones's fly-on-the-wall portrait of ghetto life seems to be too negative, too concentrated on the bad aspects of life in their depressed neighborhood. But with the encouragement of an enterprising young radio producer Dave Isay (Josh Charles, Dead Poets Society), they prove their critics wrong and go on to win a coveted Peabody Award for covering a shocking story that the national press wanted to ignore...
