DEAD AHEAD: THE EXXON VALDEZ DISASTER not only recreates the events on the ship leading up to the disaster, but it also explores the equally distressing events that occur on shore. With millions of gallons of oil pouring out of the ship, the clean-up effort becomes engulfed in bickering and blame among top-level officials.
Key players, like Frank Larossi (Christopher Lloyd - Back to the Future trilogy, My Favourite Martian) of Exxon and Admiral Paul Yost (Rip Torn - Defending Your Life) of the U.S. Coast Guard, struggle with the politics of the clean-up. Dan Lawn (John Heard - Home Alone 1 & 2), of the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, pleads for action to be taken before it is too late. Enraged local residents look on helplessly while the oil spreads rapidly.
