Crazy, quirky but lovable Ruth (Rebecca De Mornay) deals with her loneliness by conjuring up ways how she can catch her husband up in lies about his fidelity. Still, despite it all, they love each other. But when Ruth finds a .38 revolver carefully concealed, she becomes suspicious. In reality, Matt is leading a double life. When he's not with Ruth, he is a successful, refined researcher living a life filled with elegant parties and a mansion home. When circumstances dictate that Matt must give up his double life, he creates a devious plan to annul his marriage to Ruth. As the action unfolds, layers of deceit are peeled away as unpredictable competitors fight in a life-or-death affair.
