Laced with the malice of Daivd Lynch, the satiric edge of David Cronenberg and as brilliantly original as the Cohen brothers, Clay Pigeons is a darkly comic and perversely surreal trip to the dead heart of the dead-end USA. Welcome to Mercer Montanta, Population 1,100 and falling.
Something bad is happening in Mercer and there are corpses to prove it. They all seem to be pilling up around shy gas station attendant Clay Bidwell (Phoenix). In fact, the last body belonged to his cheating girlfriend.
Enter charismatic cowboy Lester Long (Vaughn), who always seems to be one step behind Clay as he trips over the bodies and stumbles onto the truth.
Just as Mercer erupts into a hotbed of fervent suspicion and fresh cadavers, smart-mouthed FBI agent Dale Shelby (Garofaol) finally thinks she`s got the serial killer pinned ... but then the serial killer might just have her pinned instead.
Packing a full arsenal of bizarre plot twists and a skewed sense of the absurd, Clay Pigeons, sets its target high and shoots directly from the hip. Make sure you leave Mercer off your next road trip
