Corky (Anthony Hopkins, SHADOWLANDS, HANNIBAL) is a magician's assistant lacking any real charm, personality or self confidence whose first solo performance is a disaster. To improve his act, he introduces a ventriloquist dummy called Fats and with the assistance of a New York agent (Burgess Meredith, GRUMPY OLD MEN) the two are soon on the road to stardom.
In the process, however, Fats appears to develop a mind and personality of his own taking control of Corky and releasing a reign of terror on Corky's unsuspecting sweet-heart Peggy Ann (Ann-Margaret, BYE BYE BIRDIE, ANY GIVEN SUNDAY).
Directed by Richard Attenborough (SHADOWLAND, GANDHI), with a hauntingly evocative score by Academy Award winning composer, Jerry Goldsmith (THE OMEN, L.A. CONFIDENTIAL), MAGIC is a dark thriller about a magician's assistant who falls prey to the power of his own act.
