Criminal Law is a stylish, fast paced thriller. From its first intense moments, the film makes you a participant at the scene of a savage murder. Criminal Law grips you, then drops you, centre stage, in the middle of a heated trial. The courtroom drama unfolds as advocate Ben Chase discredits a key witness by sheer force of his personality, then outwits prosecutors with a cunning defense. Little does Chase suspect, when he secures freedom for killer Martin Thiel, that he will become embroiled in a cycle of violence. In a spell-binding tale of murder and mayhem, Ben Chase, a hard-driving, young defense attorney confronts his own dark side, while grappling with the motives of a particularly heinous criminal. What he learns about his own potential for violence is a chilling testament to the fine line separating civilised behaviour from the naked emotion in all of us.
