Jackie Chan stars as Dragon, a martial arts student whose brother Tiger is the star student of the school. Just before the annual lion dance competition, Tiger is injured and Dragon is chosen to take his place. Dragon loses the competition to the rival kung fun academy, who fights dirty. During the competition Dragon discover the rival lion dancer is his brother Tiger, who has taken a bribe from the rival school. Out of loyalty to his brother, Dragon keeps quiet about it. But when Tiger is later caught sneaking a girl into the school, he confesses everything to the Master. The Master throws Tiger out. With nowhere to go, Tiger becomes involved in the underworld.

Meanwhile Dragon leaves the academy in search of his missing brother. Along the way, Dragon is mistaken for his brother Tiger, who is wanted for murder. As a result, Dragon must bring the crime boss to justice in order to clear his name.
