The Far Pavaillions is a mini-series based upon the 1978 international best-selling novel by M.M. Kaye. It portrays a passionate and haunting love story set against the spectacular and epic sweep of battle, treachery and intrigue of late 19th century India and that country's revolution for freedom from England.

The Far Pavillions is a tale of forbidden love and honour involving romance between a British cavalry officer and an Indian princess who has been promised in an arranged marriage to a despotic ruler.

The Far Pavillions shows India as it has never been seen before on film... the splendour of the autocratic princely states... the life of British Raj... glorious episodes in the history of the elite Corps of Guides... the costumes, the props, the set dressings, the locations... all are accurate recreations of that rich and colourful past!
