An epic tale of a young man's quest to master the ocean. Nick McCallum has a dream of joining the professional surfing ranks with his friend and mentor, Dane Sanders.
Nick is a talented surfer, but is trapped in a dead end job working for his father as a mechanic in the rundown family garage. Bound to a wheelchair after a big wave surfing accident, Nick's father does everything in his power to discourage Nick's dream.
Eager for success and in need of money, two obstacles stand in Nick's way - his father and Nick's own fear of big wave surfing, which is intensified by his father's tragic mishap.
Deciding to break the shackles of his overbearing father, Nick opts for a career in professional surfing. But when Nick's surfing manager uses him to unwittingly smuggle drugs while traveling the world's surfing competitions, Nick's dream suddenly becomes a nightmare and he finds himself alone and in jail.
With the love of French photographer Jeanne and the friendship of islander Ogitani, Nick makes a comeback to face his ultimate challenge - to ride the big waves he fears most.
