Izzy Maurer (Harvey Keitel), is a jazz saxophonist whose life permanently changes when he is injured by a stray bullet. After his recovery, Izzy stumbles across the body of a stranger and winds up with the murdered man's briefcase. Inside is a mysterious stone that leads him to Celia Burns (Mira Sorvina).
Together, they discover the power of the stone and the threat of those who want it, as the story takes a dark and surprising turn into the Pandora's box of Izzy's soul.
