We all must go through a rite of passage.

The voice of a madman pierces through a house of horros as clearly as it does through an on-line chat room... anonymously. A chat room is precisely the place where 15 year-old Genevieve and friend Tiana try to rustle up some action after school. They strike up a conversation with Captain Howdy and attracted by his member profile, Genevieve jumps at the chance when he invites both girls to his house for a party that night.

It must be physical

In the wake of the girls' disappearance, Genevieve's father, Detective Mike Gage, forms an unlikely alliance with Detective Steve Christian but the investigation doesn't have a focus until the two learn of Genevieve's penchant for cybertalk.

It must be painful

On a tip, police drag a car from the lake, which holds Tiana's tortured body - mouth swen shut and eyes terror-stricken. In their search for Genevieve the detectives are drawn into the horrific world of tribal ritual - tattooing, piercing, branding, mutilation - forms of personal expression dating back to primitive times.

And it must leave a mark.
