John Harris is a tough Chicago cop on secondment to London. Ostensibly his mission is to advise on the massive expansion of America's drug racketeers into Europe. Privately, he longs to nail Carl Fraser, the Mr. Big who, he is sure, is behind it. Getting Fraser is a long-term obsession that has led to the breakdown of Harris's marriage. Beneath the bluff exterior, he keenly feels the loss of his wife and daughters.
Yet even as Harris is at last freed from his obsession, and can think about rebuilding his rocky marriage, the underlying nightmare refuses to die.
