Take Tom, one bored kid from suburban Chicago and transplant him in California, the land of earthquakes, mellow people and an Aunt Sally who lives totally organically, and watch what happens. Tom's family in Chicago is going through a bitter divorce so his parents decide it would be better for 14 year old Tom to spend the summer out west, much to Tom's dislike. But Tom's summer is destined to be anything but ordinary. A loacl surfer nicknamed Fin befriends him and introduces him to the California beach and its favourite pastimes - surfing and girls. Then there's the annual surfing contest, the bully lifeguard, the local girls Traci and Cari, and a thousand other things to do in a summer of adventure. And just as everything seems to be going his way, Tom witnesses a drug deal turn sour, and suddenly both boys are on the run for their lives. Now Tom and Fin must solve the crime before the killer catches them... win the surfing contest... get the girls and overcome the bully. Can they do it. You Bet!
