Set in the near future, the film focuses on Arnold Most (Neil Patrick Harris) a high school student caught abusing drugs. When he's put in a controversial isolation program nicknamed "The Animal Room" his life is threatened. It's a no holds barred arena where the most troubled youth have been assembled. Arnold is terrorized by the animal room's gang leader Doug Van Housen (Matthew Lillard), a reckless delinquent with little care for life or the rules of society. When Arnold's childhood friend Gary, a popular school athlete, tries to save him all involved are caught in a cycle of violence bringing the film to a near-apocalyptic conclusion.
