1998, 88 minutes, Rated M

When a young Californian named Mark moves to Hawaii, he discovers that the island is much different than the paradise he's seen on postcards. In the real Hawaii, the colour of his skin makes Mark an outsider, and on the first day at his new high school Mark learns a harsh lesson about the tension between native Hawaiians and "haoles", the native term for "whites". Eventually, Mark befriends three Hawaiians, Ronnie Boy, Keao and Zulu, and starts to feel accepted. Whether surfing, snowbaording or chasing girls, the four friends are inseparable. But their friendship is soon tested by racial tensions as Mark feels that no matter what he does, he will always be looked upon as a "haole". As Mark and his friends struggle with the problems faced by all teenages, they showly learn that friendship is the key to understanding.
