Matt Sabo is a talented, handsome young man on the road to self-destruction.
Gifted as a natural athlete, Matt takes his skill for granted and is unable to appreciate the opportunities the future could provide him. His natural athletic ability is his ticket to freedom from the decaying rural village where he has been brought up by an unfit mother. A troubled teen, he opts instead to lash out at life's unfairness, especially being abandoned by his father.
Despite what some would consider an honour and most others a lucky break from serving jail time from a crime committed, matt sports a bad attitude on and off the field. It becomes evident to his team-mates at the all-star camp that he doesn't care about the game. That is until he meets Amy Lear, an attractive, local girl of the camp's host town with no future, who's lookinh for the right 'hero' to save her.
Amy and Matt fall in love as she helps him realize that he has a shot of getting a full ride scholarship if he gets his act together.
