Maniacts is the story of Joe and Beth - a mass murder and a serial killer.
They meet in a corrupt institution for the criminally insane named Edgemare. Despite their unusual circumstances, Joe (Jeff Fahey) and Beth (Kellie Waymire) develop a strong relationship. Joe escapes the institution, but Beth is stuck inside. The staff at Edgemare tortures her for information on Joe. He soon discovers that he can't live without Beth. Joe goes back to the institution to rescue her and expose Edgemare for the corrupt institution that it is. A riot breaks out. During the murder and mayhem, Joe and Beth make their escape.
The couple searches for a place where they can start life anew. They find Boley. Boley is a tough old psychic farmer hanging on to his old way of life in the face of the encroaching city and money-hungry real estate speculators. Joe and Beth settle in at Boley's farm. It seems as though they will live happily ever after... until their cover is blown.
