An enormous Grizzly Bear makes a mysterious escape from a wildlife refuge and begins a terrifying rampage through the small mountain community of Pine Lake. After being blamed for the breakout, 16-year-old, new-kid-in-town Josh Harding sets out to find the bear, believing he knowns the reason for the grizzly's deadly behaviour.

With the town crippled by fear, Ranger Frank Bradford calls on expert wildlife tracker Jack Buck to capture the bear. Meanwhile, local land developer Harlan Adams forms his own search party; its mission to kill the Grizzly.
