Well-respected homicide detective, Harry Woltz (James Belushi) has a secret... an out of control gambling habit at a chic nightspot called "The Tom Tom Club".

The owners of the club demand that Harry pays up or carry out one special 'contract' for them... train John Farrow (Jason Bateman) to murder his wife, Evans, apart owner of the club...and have his debt cancelled.

With no option but to agree, Harry takes John Farrow through the perfect murder but things go awry when Harry is framed for the murder and comes under the investigation of his protege and former lover, Gwen Buckley (Angela Featherstone).

the noose tightens on Harry as he scrambles to uncover the real killers...while Gwen gets closer to the truth and ultimately must arrest the man who trained her and whom she still loves.
