In the town of Potter's Bluff, all is not as it seems. First of all it's a photographer on a lonely beach who's seized by an angry mob and burned alive. A drunken old fisherman is the next victim - gruesomely tortured as his throat is slit. Sheriff Dan Gillis is a man who's determined to find out what sinister secrets lie beneath these acts of terrible violence.

His search leads him to the town's undertaker, and into an even more chilling direction he never suspected. The truth which floods Dan's mind is a picture of horror which shatters his life forever.
