A young hitman has been sent to kill the legendary assassin Ma-Hin Fung. While he is waiting for his prey, Ma-Hin's lieutenant, Wai, tells him the story of his master's incredible past...

In China during the first World War, a young Ma-Hin is wandering the countyside searching for his past. All he can remember is that he must find an abandoned temple and the mysterious woman that is waiting for him there. In a remote village, he is brefriended by the young Wai who offers to be his guide. Later when they are attacked by bandits on the highway, Wai realises that his new friend is no common soldier.
