On August 12, 1999, Shakira filmed her MTV Unplugged in New York City at the Grand Ballroom of the Manhattan Center Studios. She was accompanied by an outstanding band of musicians who supported her performance of new and exciting arrangements; from the Arabic version of "Ojos Asi" to the chords of her popular version of "Ciega, Sordomuda" where she was joined by a whole mariachi, in pure Mexican style.

Shakira's MTV Unplugged broadcast was so successful that the program became the first international acoustic presentation to be broadcast in Spanish on MTV in the United States as well as various European networks.
