2002, 98 minutes, Rated M

After her boyfriend's suicide, a traumatised Morvern (Samantha Morton) struggles to define her place in the world. Her behaviour grows more erratic, until the discovery of her late lover's unpublished novel offers an unexpected solution ... Ramsay's second feature offers further proof of her singular talent. An elegy for the rave generation, its hallucinatory visuals are echoed by the trippy textures of its soundtrack (with tracks by Aphex Twin, Lee Scratch Perry, Velvet Underground and Broadcast) and the wayward drift of its narrative. Euphoric, strange and unforgettable, this cinema at its most audacious: a triumphant return for one of the most gifted filmmakers of her generation.
