Banzai Runner

Banzai Runners drive specially equipped Ferrari's, Pantera's and other imported cars at speeds of 200 miles an hour on lonely desert roads. Billy Baxter (Dean Stockwell, Blue Velvet) is a highway patrolman fed up with his inability to control the highways. Against the orders of his commander Billy visits master mechanic Traven (Charles Dierkop, The Sting) and asks him to soup up his patrol car.
When Captain Hernandez (Eric Mason, Fahrenheit 451) finds out, he fires Baxter but the DEA step in and convince him to try and infiltrate the Banzai Runners. When prime suspect, Harry Osborne (Barry Sattels), challenges Billy to a race - winner takes the money, drugs and all - he soon finds himself entangled in a struggle for survival... Osborne's bagman, Syszek (Billy Drago, Pale Rider), is holding Billy's nephew hostage.
