Reverend Malone, the village pastor in Antonio Bay, finds a manuscript and a crucifix in his home. His great-grandfather's diary, written in 1880, relates how the villagers were frightened by the prospect of lepers arriving in the village. They decided to sink the new arrivals' boat and steal their gold.

A century after these tragic events, the whole population of Antonio Bay is ready to celebrate the town's centenary. But during the ceremony, a thick fog develops over the sea, moving quickly towards land...
