"Dating in the nineties is hard. Especially when you're from the sixties."

In 1962, in the midst of the Cuban missile crisis, the fear was nuclear war, so mad-cap scientist Calvin Webber (Christopher Walken) and his pregnant wife (Sissy Spacek) retreated to their home-away-from-home bomb shelter. They had a baby, Adam, and raised him there with good wholesome 60s' values. Now 35 years later and with the all-clear from Dad, Adam (Brendan Fraser) is stepping out of the shelter and into the nineties... that's one small step for Adam, one giant shock for mankind.

Here Adam, the guy who loves Perry Como records and thinks "gay" means chirpy, is about to meet a worldly 90s babe called Eve (Alicia Silverstone). With names like that, you'd think it was the beginning of something divine, but with his taste in clothes and her taste in music, they're worlds - and decades - apart!
