An extraordinary story of love, compassion and survival in a country divided.
It's 1976 in Buenos Aires, Carlos Rueda (Antonio Banderas) and his wife Cecilia (Emma Thompson) live with their daughter Teresa in a city haunted by the ongoing disappearances of thousands of it's citizens. Cecilia works as a well-known journalist, whose editorials questioning these disappearances have attracted the attention of government agents.
When Carlos arrives home one day, he finds that Cecilia has been abducted by the police and taken to one of the country's notorious secret prisons. Carlos pursues fragments of her trail which lead him closer to danger.
He begins to have visions and to sense a connection to the missing that goes beyond normal perception. Nearly broken and possessed by horrific visions of his loved ones he cannot reach, Carlos embarks on a quest to save his family and reveal the unimaginable.
