Giving birth to your first child should be a time of joy, but for Rachel Stewart (Emily Woof), happiness turns to devastation with the news her newborn son has died during the night. But Rachel cannont accept the news... frantic and grief stricken she begins to suspect her child has been abducted.
In a desperate attempt to uncover the truth Rachel returns to the hispital where she encounters the menacing Dennis Betts (Clive Russell). Alone and terrified she befriends Daniel (Douglas Henshall), a hospital porter who reluctantly agrees to help.
Togther, Rachel and Daniel begin a dangerous investigation that takes them through London's seedy nightscape. Their only solid lead is a young prostitute named Joanne, whose own baby provides a link back to Betts. But when a friend of Rachel mysteriously turns up dead they fast discover that Dennis Betts is not all he appears to be.
As the conspiracy thickens the two are led back into Rachael's past, where a terifying discovery brings into question everything she has ever believed in.
