1976, 110 minutes, Rated M
With an original screenplay by David Williamson here is the shocking, bawdy, real life colonial adventure of a woman way ahead of her time!
English sea Captain James Fraser (Noel Ferrier) and his vivacious young wife Eliza (Susannah York) are shipwrecked on the Great Barrier Reef off the Queensland coast in 1837 and forced to live amongst the local aboriginals whilst watching their mutinous crew turn into savages. By the time help arrives, Eliza has been widowed and on her return to Sydney Town she outrages society by earning her living re-enacting her adventures at carnivals and country fairs.
