1979, 93 minutes, Rated PG

When the world's most inept landlord, a zany spinster, a royal African prince, a frustrated lover and a devious fast-talking con man get together under one roof, the result is more problematic than rising damp in the full-length feature film of the classic British 70's sitcom.

Rigsby (Leonard Rossiter), the owner of a seedy boarding house in London, is madly in love with one of his tenants, Miss Jones (Frances de la Tour), a single woman in her early 30s. However, his plans for seduction go awry when she unwittingly falls for Philip (Don Warrington), a soft-spoken African medical student, who also happens to be a royal prince.

While this romantic triangle works itself into a frenzy, potential love is interrupted by the arrival of a seemingly suave new tenant, Seymour (Denholm Elliott), who falls deeply in love with Miss Jones' money. Will the "rising damp" of unrequited love eventually take its inevitable toll?

The brilliant Leonard Rossiter is joined by the original cast from the hit 70's TV series in the film version of Rising Damp, winner off the Evening Standard awards for Best Comedy Film, BEst Actress (Frances de la Tour), Best Actor (Denholm Elliott), Best Director (Joe McGrath) with the Peter Sellers Award going to Leonard Rossiter.
