1989, 89 minutes, Rated G

From the director of the animated classics "An American Tail" and "The Land That Time Forgot" comes the original heartwarming adventures of rascally Charlie B. Barkin, the German Shepherd with a shady past and Anne-Marie, the little girl who ensures his place in heaven.

When Charlie (Burt Reynolds) breaks out of the New Orleans Dog Pound with the help of his faithful friend Itchy (Dom Deluise), a hyperactive Dachshund, he soon finds himself in even deeper trouble. His former gambling partner, the shifty pitbull Carface Malone (Vic Tayback) doesn't want to share the spoils and sets in motion other plans for Charley.

Finding himself outside the Pearly Gates, face to face with the Heavenly Whippet (Melba Moore), Charlie soon learns that he won't be allowed into Heaven until a record of his acts of goodness are found. Easier said than done. Stealing the heavenly watch inscribed with his name, Charlie returns to Earth intent on revenge. But with the help of Anne-Marie, a little girl who can talk to animals, Charlie might just get into Heaven after all.
