Rebecka Fairbanks (Elizabeth Hurley from Austin Powers) is a mega-movie star struggling for credibility. Despite wealth, fame and the adoration of millions, Rebecka is unhappy - plauged by personal demons and her vain, overbearing stage mother Mona. When Rebecka accepts the part of a moral widow Belle Gunness - a real-life serial killer of the 1900's - she attacks the challenging role with an obsessive fervour.
Belle begins to appear off screen and becomes Rebecka's dangerous alter ego. This results in a murderous game of cat and mouse where reality erodes and an inner battle ensues between the sociopath Belle and the actress Rebecka.
