WELCOME TO THE FIFTH CHAPTER IN THE ADVENTURES OF THE USS VOYAGER, STRANDED TENS OF THOUSANDS OF LIGHT YEARS FROM HOME IN UNKNOWN AND HOSTILE SPACE.

It is 2375: This year the Voyager crew will encounter one of their most reviled adversaries: the Malon, an industrial race whose billions of tons of daily radiogenic waste pollute nearby systems, poisoning indigenous species and Malon low-level workers alike. While Species 8472 makes an appearance in an unlikely setting, Voyager will also encounter other threatening lifeforms, including dwellers in a space-bound, spherical ocean; a nebulous creature that devours entire starships; and an armoured alien which attaches itself to Torres and cannot be removed for fear of killing the Klingon engineer. With B'Elanna displaying an almost suicidal streak, and finding herself on the operating table of a holographic version of a Cardassian surgeon infamous for conducting live experiments on his patients, Tom Paris will be demoted and thrown in the brig, and the ship will be taken over by an intelligent weapon of mass destruction: a "smart missile" on its way to kill millions.

While the Doctor finds himself attracted to Seven of Nine, the female drone will experience the Borg version of multiple personality disorder, then be lured from Voyager into the presence of the Borg Queen herself, where she will meet her assimilated father while Captain Janeway mounts a rescue mission. What the Borg Queen cannot achieve by force, others will attempt by guile: a super-intelligent group will request that Seven join them, in exchange for guidance that could save Voyager from destruction by assassins. And, although they believe themselves alone in the Delta Quadrant, the crew of Voyager will stumble upon the USS Equinox, another stranded Starfleet vessel, whose controversial practices bring a host of angry aliens in for the kill.
