The Crucible is a critically praised, suspenseful and intriguing cinematic event starring Academy Award-winner Daniel Day-Lewis (Mt Left Foot, 1989) and two time Academy Award-nominee Winona Ryder (The Age of Innocence, 1993 and Little Women, 1994). Together with the excellent performances given by the all-star supporting cast, the powerful story of passion, jealousy, paranoia, betrayal and evil come to life in this highly charged and exciting film.

Based on of the greatest plays of the twentieth century. The Crucible takes place in Massachusetts in 1692. In the small Puritan town, where ones life is dedicated to the service of God, several teenage girls are discovered in the woods and are accused of engaging in "the devil's work". As time goes by the village becomes consumed by cries of witchcraft. One by one, the blameless victims of this mass hysteria are torn from their homes and families.
