Grace MacKenzie (Bonnie Bedelia) is a widowed mother who is ordained as an Episcopalian Minister. Her source of inspiration is her teenage daughter, Vera, who is confined to a wheelchair as a result of the same automobile accident that killed her father. Vera disappears and Grace sets out to find her. She discovers that Vera has joined a remote desert community led by Angel (Nick Mancuso) a charismatic figure who promises salvation to his devoted fellowers. Angel may be a charlatan, but his hold on Vera is real. Grace struggles with the growing conflict between faith and love in this gripping drama.
