Emmy and Golden Globe award-winner Donald Sutherland (Citizen X, Backdraft, M*A*S*H) stars with Matthew Fox (Party of Five, Wings) and two-time Oscar nominee Mary McDonnell (Independance Day, Dances With Wolves, Passion Fish) in this powerful and inspirational drama, executive produced by Oscar winning writer of the modern-day classic Rain Man.

When dedicated social worker Bob Shushan (Sutherland) suffers a heart attack behind the wheel of a car, his life is saved by a very unlikely hero - James Jones (Fox) a dishevelled outcast and severel disturbed young man who does odd jobs at the help center for mentally challenged people where Bob works. In the hospital, Bob's wife Mary (McDonnell) urges Bob to take a break from his rigorous schedule, but Bob is stubbornly determined to return to work as soon as possible. Once out of hospital, Bob learns that's he's being forced into early retirement. He then realises he started his career to help people but now find himself a bureaucrat behind a desk, ignoring the needs of his own grown son., Brian in the process. In a bold decision to return to his calling, Bob decides to help the tragically disturbed James while at the same time developing a stronger bond with his own son. Bob helps turn James around, however, in the process James begins to confuse him with his own father, who abandoned him years ago.

While Bob sets out to find James real father, James suffers a serious setback. Now Bob must face some serious questions about his mission, at the same time wondering if he can ever recapture precious time lost with his own family!
