1997, 90 minutes, Rated M

Three time Golden Globe and two-time Academy Award Winner Meryl Streep stars in this powerful as a mother determined to find a cure for her ailing son, in a motion picture for television directed by acclaimed feature film director Jim Abrahams.

Lori Reimuller (Meryl Streep - Sophie's Choice, Kramer vs. Kramer, The Bridges of Madison County) manages to hold a part-time job, maintain a hectic but happy household and care for her three children, Mark, Lynne and Robbie. However, she suddenly finds her life dramatically changed forever when her youngest son is diagnosed with a serious disease; the boy suffers from debilitating seizures. As Robbie's attacks become increasingly severe Lori fears he will never be able to lead a normal life and will always be a victim of ridicule in their small town.

Robbie's condition worsens and the prescribed medications that Lori finds herself endlessly administering only making him restless, hyperactive and sometimes scarily catatonic. The concerned mother finally decides to take her son's treatment into her own hands, searching for anything - any hope - any uncoventional medical answer that might make Robbie healthy again.

With mounting medical bills and lack of insurance he Reimullers are forced to take their son to a local county hospital, giving up the highly specialized treatment Robbie needs to live. In a final devastating setback the family must move out of their home, as they can no longer afford their house payments.

Vailantly beginning a struggle to find her own cure for Robbie's disease, Lori miraculously discovers an obscure esoteric diet that slowly begins to make the boy better. With determination, courage and a relentless commitment to keep her family together, Lori presses forward to find the one way to save her son's life along with her family's hopes for the future.
