Based on the best-selling novel by author Robert B. Parker, Joe Mategna (The Last Don, Up Close And Personal, The Godfather: Part III) is Spenser - Boston's best-known Private Eye. Called upon to investigate a cae of murder, corruption and betrayal, the super sleuth finds himself marked for death and on the run from a ruthless international assassin, in the taut thriller Small Vices.

When Spenser agrees to help out an old ally, he doesn't realise he's about to enter a fight for his very life. Though the detective's friend, a top lawyer, successfully prosecuted Ellis Alves for the abduction and murder of a young socialite, she now has doubts about the case. Was Ellis actually the victim of a frame-up by the police?

As Spenser teams with his loyal partner Hawk (Shiek Mahmoud-Bey - Profiler, Kiss Of Death) and his psychiatrist girlfriend (Marcia Gay Harden - Meet Joe Black, The First Wives Club) to revisit the witnesses who testified against Ellis he runs into a wall of silence from Boston's wealthiest people. Suddenly the detective learns he's in deeper trouble than ever bargained for and as the case leads to wealthy Clint Stapleton, the victim's boyfriend, Spenser is severely injured by a professional assassin.!

Faking his death, Spenser flees the country, leaving the assassin to think he's done his work. And while secretly recovering from his wounds, Spenser vows revenge. But will the investigator ever uncover the sinister link between the assasin, Ellis Alves and one of the city's richest families?
