The pre-curser to the cult classic Nowhere, The Doom Generation goes far beyond sex and who's screwing who. When Jordan (James Duvall) and his babe Amy (Rose McGowan) hook up with trouble-man Xavier (heart-throb Jonathan Schaech) carnage ensues. The teen trio falls into a three-way love triangle in a fervent go-fuck-yourself way.
With its MTV gloss, kinky cameos and ardently alternative music (Nine Inch Nails, Jesus & Mary Chain) Doom sounds show-offfy hip and nihilistic. It's a savagely fun ride fuelled by director Gregg Araki's insight and blunt compassion.
