Inspired by the true story of killers Perry Smith and Dick Hickock, In Cold Blood dramatises their senseless slaughter of the Clutter family, their escape, life on the run and their eventual capture and execution.

With incredible performances from his lead actors (Robert Blake and Scott Wilson are riveting as the killers) a throbbing jazz score by Quincy Jones and stunning black and white photography used for gritty, documentary-style realism, director Richard Brooks created a classic of the period and the benchmark for a genre that has yet to be equaled.
