In feudal Japan, samurai Ogami Itto is entrusted by the Shogun as official executioner for the Royal Court. His skill with a sword is terrifying and absolute. Falsely accused of treason by the evil Yagyu clan, Ogami is stripped of his position and his wife is murdered by Yagyu assassins. With his infant son Daigoro, Ogami sets out on a brutal and bloody path of revenge.
