1996, 105 minutes, Rated PG

Meet the Beindorfs.  Janet (Jamie Lee Curtis - Freaky Friday) and Ned (Kevin Pollak - The Whole 10 Yards)are both working parents providing a nice home for their 14 year old son Grover and 10 year old daughter Stacy.  They seem to personify the al- American family - happy, loving together.  But the fairy tale comes to an abrupt end when, on their anniversary, Janet and Ned announces they are separating.  Needless to say, Grover and Stacy are devastated.

But Grover has a plan and on the pretence of throwing a Hawaiian theme anniversary party, the kids lure their parents into the basement of the family home and despite, their protestations, lock them in until Janet and Ned agree to get back together again.

The House Arrest makes Grover a hero amongst his friends and it's not long before the Beindorfs are joined in the basement by two other couples and a sing mum; with kids camped out upstairs urging them all to "get their respective acts together".

Now home is where the hostages are as the kids rule in the year's most arresting comedy.
