Deep in the Californian desert radio astronomer, Zane Ziminski (Charlie Sheen), scans the airwaves for evidence of extraterrestrial life. Determined to know if we are not alone, he searches the radio waves for responses. Suddenly, inexplicably, a bizarre squeal reverberates through the speakers. It is a shock wave signal from beyond our solar system - seeming to be proof of extraterrestrial life.
But as Zane traces the signal, it appears that someone is already communicating with it. When the evidence leads him to a remote power plant in Mexico, he makes the shocking discovery that the people working there are not what they appear to be.
